HR Campus Notebooks in Colombia

Education and Sustainability

At HR Campus, we are committed to creating a better future by donating functional laptops to schools in Colombia. This year, the students of the «Reserva Natural Porvenir» school received eight laptops. Together with the local community and dedicated Campus members, we are enabling access to digital education while also fostering awareness of environmental conservation.

At HR Campus our commitment extends far beyond our office walls. For the second year, we are donating laptops in full working order to schools in Colombia in order to support education and environmental protection. This year we cooperated closely with the local community and sent eight laptops to a school in the Reserva Natural Porvenir, in Cimitarra.

Our sincere thanks go to Campus team member Stephan Bodenmann, who set up the laptops at the school, thus giving the students access to digital learning content.  It is great to see how our devices are being given a meaningful second life and opening up new learning opportunities for the children. All the laptops which we donated last year are still in full working order and are being used with great enthusiasm.

This year's school is on the opposite bank of the river that flows through the Reserva Natural Porvenir, close to the school that we supported last year. Both schools are located near the protected rainforest. Biologists working there are drawing the children's attention to their home's unique biodiversity, in order to stimulate their awareness of and interest in protecting the natural and animal worlds.

After the laptops were handed over, the children and their teacher devised rules for handling the devices carefully and responsibly and set these down in an agreement. They were proud to send us a fat envelope of their signed agreements, lovingly decorated with drawings and a big thank you, to the HR Campus office in Dübendorf.

Infected by the children's enthusiasm, we launched a pilot scheme in which Campus volunteers teach the children remotely. Even though the first attempt was literally rained off because of a power cut, we are not going to let a drop or two of rain dampen our spirits!
