Standardising HR and shaping the digital transformation

With over 6,000 employees in six countries, talent management was a challenge for Helvetia. Without a standardised overview of the entire workforce, it was difficult to place the right employees in the right positions. The replacement of various systems and consolidation into a single system significantly improved the initial situation.

Initial situation

With over 6,000 employees and more than 7 million customers, Helvetia, headquartered in St. Gallen, is one of Europe's leading insurance companies and a major player in the Swiss insurance market.

In the course of national and international growth, it became increasingly difficult to identify and develop talent. In addition, each country used its own HR systems and processes, which made it difficult to have a group-wide view of the workforce. The need to create a central talent management platform was recognised.

Solution

After an extensive evaluation phase, Helvetia decided in favour of SAP SuccessFactors as the basis for the new HR platform. Together with HR Campus, Helvetia began the implementation of SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central in Switzerland, followed by modules such as Recruitment, Performance & Goals, Succession & Development, Compensation, Learning and Time Management. In addition, UKG HR Service Delivery Suite was integrated in Switzerland for HR ticketing and document management. SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central serves as a central source for organisational and employee data and has already been rolled out in all European countries.

Project

The introduction of SAP SuccessFactors has already brought significant improvements in Switzerland. Time recording is now carried out via SAP SuccessFactors Time Tracking, which enables the approximately 6,000 employees in Switzerland to record their working hours via self-service. This integration has been well received by employees.

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central provides direct insights into employee data, which can be updated at any time. Managers get an instant overview of their teams, including performance reviews and learning histories, which facilitates succession planning and internal recruitment. Helvetia is also planning to introduce the SAP SuccessFactors Mobile App to make HR Services even more user-friendly.
