Initial situation
Bachem AG, headquartered in Bubendorf, Switzerland, is a global leader in the development and production of peptides and oligonucleotides. The company employs more than 2,100 people at sites in Switzerland, the USA, the UK and Germany. As a globally active company, Bachem recognised the need to bring its HR IT landscape up to date. The aim was to optimise both internal HR processes and international collaboration.
The existing systems were outdated and did not offer the necessary flexibility to meet the requirements of a globally growing company. Bachem was looking for a comprehensive solution for Talent Management, master data administration and document management that would meet national and international requirements.

Solution
In the first phase, the preconfigured best practices of SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central and Employee Central Payroll plus SAP SuccessFactors Recruitment were implemented at Bachem AG. In addition, the solutions Arbeitszeugnis swiss+ and UKG HR Service Delivery were introduced, which enable modern document management with an innovative ticket system and simple workflows. These solutions not only optimise efficiency, but also ensure a better user experience. The project was successfully completed within 7 months - including the connection of 18 peripheral systems via interfaces. In a second phase, Talent Management was further expanded, from employee interviews and succession planning to remuneration management.
Project
The project team was highly motivated and committed right from the start. Bachem AG now uses SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central, Recruitment and UKG HR Service Delivery in German, English and French at all national and international locations. In Switzerland, SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll is also used for payroll processing and Arbeitszeugnis Swiss+ for the creation of employment references. The successful implementation of these solutions has sustainably improved HR processes at Bachem AG and facilitated international collaboration.
